Diving with a Difference

imagesThe Ibiza tourist board have launched a new diving brochure for 2012 made entirely from stone paper!

Since being recognised by PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) last summer as one of Europe's best diving destinations the Ibiza tourist board have been wondering how to celebrate. They came up with the 100% waterproof and tear-resistant dive map made of the unlikely material of stone paper.

Ideal for divers and water-sport enthusiasts staying in a Ibiza villa rental this unique map will have details on 20 of Ibiza's best diving sites suitable for beginners and experts. Information will be given on ease of access, maximum and minimum depths needed, GPS location, proximity to caves and wrecks as well as advice on necessary equipment needed.

maldives-diving-lThe waters around Ibiza are incredibly clear, ideal for diving and this is borne out with the number of PADI associated diving centres, 12 in total, able to cater for both casual beginners and more advanced expeditions. Diverse marine life lives around Ibiza's shores with UNESCO adding the extensive meadows of Neptune that encircle the island to the World Heritage list in 1999.

Ibiza has a variety of dive sites for those staying in an Ibiza villa rental to explore, from natural caves to the recently opened merchant cargo ship - the Don Pedro - that sank off the coast in 2007. At 140m it is the longest dive site of its kind in Europe. Those coming to stay in a luxury villa on Ibiza and plan on taking a course or arrange an expedition will be glad to note that water temperature is comfortably mild all year round with on land temperatures rarely dipping below 14°c
